How Hard Women’s Lives Have Been In The Past
Women have made great strides in achieving rights and being equal to men. For a long time, women were always placed in the shadows of men and were expected to bear children and to be good wives. It is astonishing that females in the past were thought to be inferior to men; they could not own any businesses or assets were not allowed to work and make money, they could not go outside the house alone and were to be accompanied by men and their husbands had full control of their wives. It is sad that in some parts of the world like the Middle East, women are viewed inferior and have no rights whatsoever.
Presently, women can now vote in federal elections in most countries around the world and can now even run to become presidents. The recent presidential campaign by Hillary Rodham Clinton was an exciting step for organizations that continue to champion and fight for the rights of women. If a woman is not happy in marriage, she can happily divorce the man she is with and marry another who makes her happy.
Women are more respected today as they manage big Fortune 500 companies and even some rule parts of the world. Angela Merkel of Germany is a strong and intelligent woman who recently saved Europe from the worst financial crisis ever.
As much as women have made progress for equality with men, more needs to be done to save women in the Middle Eastern part of the world where women are beaten to death for walking outside alone or they are forced to wear burkas and are not even allowed to drive.
Organizations such as the Clinton Initiative, Channel Foundation and NOW are strong advocates of enforcing womens’ rights around the world. They provide scholarships to women who want to pursue an education find help for battered women and are the spokesperson for the voiceless woman.
